Meet Your Trauma Therapist
Lanie Mathis

I'm Lanie and I help adults navigate trauma, anxiety, and life's challenges with compassion and evidence-based care so they can heal from the past, reconnect with themselves, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I believe deeply in the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for healing. My goal is to provide a place where trust, safety, and connection allow real change to unfold.

Feeling truly seen and supported can be powerful, and together, we’ll create a relationship that helps you move toward growth and self-understanding.

When I’m not in session, I’m likely spending time with my husband and toddler, working on a needlepoint project, practicing yoga or pilates, or unwinding with a little reality TV (DWTS, Big Brother, and Love Island).

I believe in balance and I know firsthand how healing can begin when we tend to all parts of ourselves: body, mind, heart, spirituality, and life.

I would be honored to be a part of your healing era.

I am so glad you're here.

EMDR and Trauma Therapist in Athens, GA

Let's get you out of survival mode and into a life that feels like yours again.

My Therapeutic Approach

My trauma-informed, relational approach is designed to ensure you feel safe, heard, and in control of your healing journey from our very first meeting.

Minimalist Floral Arrangement

I often incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a powerful way to help your brain process difficult memories without needing to talk through every detail for years. I also utilize CBT, DBT, and ACT in my practice.

We will always move at a pace that honors your needs, using consent-based pacing to ensure you never feel pushed beyond what your nervous system can handle. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to provide the tools and support as we walk this path together.
